    Mission and History

    Manifest installation view

GOCA is a non-profit, non-collecting visual art center and educational institution at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Its mission is to provide significant contemporary visual art exhibitions with an emphasis on emerging and mid-career artists while offering related programming to the University, the community and the Pikes Peak region.

GOCA now has two galleries: 121 is an off-site gallery in downtown Colorado Springs slated to open on February 5, 2010, and 1420 is the campus gallery that has been in operation since January 1981. When 1420 was established it was the only venue dedicated to contemporary art in the region.

Each gallery displays approximately five exhibitions annually, numerous events and happenings, and off-site installations throughout Colorado Springs. GOCA promotes work by artists of significant national and international reputation, as well as works by outstanding regional, faculty and student artists. Educational programming for children and adults is provided.

    Artist Submissions

GOCA exhibitions are curated and planned at least a year in advance. Therefore we are generally unable to consider work for immediate exhibition. We are always interested in looking at new work in a contemporary vein. You may send a CD-ROM of images of your work or a link to your website, along with a CV, to:

    Caitlin Green, Interim Director
    Gallery of Contemporary Art, UCCS
    1420 Austin Bluffs Parkway
    Science Building Rm. 200
    PO Box 7150
    Colorado Springs, CO 80933-7150

Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of your materials. Additionally, please feel free to send the Gallery of Contemporary Art announcements when your work is exhibited to keep us up-to-date with your activities.
