    Arts and Economic Prosperity

The Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region (COPPeR) just released the results of the 2005 Arts and Economic Prosperity findings. The results are a little surprising. For a city the size of Colorado Springs, we’re not doing too shabby on our support of the arts. Now we can pat ourselves on the back and still step it up a notch. We don’t want St. Paul, MN or Miami to overtake us. Speaking of, the Gallery of Contemporary Art support drive will be taking place shortly. . . Hint, hint.

Here is a sample chart from the report:

TOTAL Economic Impact of the Nonprofit Arts and Culture Industry in Colorado Springs metro area
(Spending by Nonprofit Arts and Culture Organizations and Their Audiences)
      Colorado Springs
    metro area
Median of Similar Study Regions National Median

COPPeR has also provided downloadable copies of the full 34-page local report or the 2-page local highlights brochure.
