    Frida Screening at Kimball’s

Recently I spoke with Charlie Snyder, the Fine Art Center’s newest Director of Public Relations, at a PRSA event where we both presented case studies on blogging and museums/galleries. I believe that Charlie has now given me three paper copies of PR related to their upcoming Frida screening in addition to two emails. I think it’s high-time I give them a little plug.

To celebrate Kahlo’s 100th birthday – she was born on July 6, 1907 – the FAC has teamed with Kimball’s Twin Peak Theater in downtown Colorado Springs, to show the 2002 Miramax Films movie, Frida, starring Salma Hayek, who was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. The movie earned six nominations, winning in makeup and score. The movie will be shown on Sunday, July 1, with a reception and again on Tuesday, July 3, with a lecture on Frida’s artwork by Tariana Navas-Nieves, FAC Curator of Hispanic Art.

One Response to “Frida Screening at Kimball’s”

    1. Thanks for the plug! We appreciate the support, and I think you will be pleased with the exhibit. We’ve repainted the galleries, installed a large screen to show videos related to the exhibits (in this case rare footage of Frida and Diego),…The photographs are stunning. I hope to see many of you at the lecture as well. I’ll be talking about her artwork, and right after you get the chance to see movie. Thanks again, and I always enjoy the site.
