    Terrence Webster

I just got the news of the terrible loss of one of UCCS’s students: Terrence Webster. My experience with Terrence was brief and enjoyable – we collaborated on a Bad Art Day for UCCS students. And, you have to admire a kid who will leave college mid-semester to shoot a documentary in a foreign country. There are at least two events that I know of that will be held in remembrance of Terrence:

Candle Light Vigil for Terrence Webster

    • Host: Team Terrence
    • Date: Monday, February 4, 2008
    • Time: 8:00pm – 11:00pm
    • Location: Capoeira
      • 975 Garden of the Gods Road
      • Colorado Springs, CO

    Team Terrence Memorial

    • Come by Friday and celebrate the life of Terrence Webster
    • Host: Team Terrence
    • Date: Friday, February 8, 2008
    • Time: 7:00pm – 9:00pm
    • Location: UC Theatre, Colorado Springs, CO
    • Update 02.08.07): Due to the large amount of people attending this event, it will take place in the UCCS Science Auditorium (immediately adjacent to the gallery of Contemporary Art) – the building south-east end of the University Center. There should be signs helping to point you in the right direction. Free parking in lot 3 and 4 on campus for the tribute.

It makes you pause. . .

Update (02.05.08): The family’s funeral service for Terrence is scheduled for Sat. Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2750 Melissa Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80907. The information is posted on the website for the Colorado Academy of Music and Dance at: http://www.SpringsDance.com/

The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, etc., any donations be made to the Colorado Academy of Music and Dance for scholarships for students who would like to learn Capoeira. Please share this info with anyone you feel is appropriate.

    1. R.I.P. He was loved by everyone he knew.

    2. Terrence will still live on in the many hearts and minds and that he has touched. He will be greatly missed and our community is truly at a loss. I feel priviledged to have known such a genuine and loving, caring and hilarious person. I am very greatful that he has been such a great teacher and friend to my 3 children, and I. AXE! BRASA!

    3. I went to Highschool with Terrence, where he was first introduced to capoeira during his capstone project for senior sem. He showed our whole group how cool it was, I loved it. I still can’t believe he has left… I’ll never forget him and how generous he always was… While he played comando capture the flag in the dark some where in utah on our wild river trip. He was one of the few people who was actually nice to me in highschool. I have a lot of memories of Terrence and I know he will be remembered well!!! God speed Terrence Webster We’ll catch ya on the flip side now you can capoeira in the clouds with the very best view!!!

    4. Terrence and I became friends about a year and a half ago, we traveled across Europe together for six weeks, eating every meal, sharing hostels and hotel rooms and conversation about life, philososhy and music. He was one of the most special people I have ever known and he will always have a special place in my heart. I had a connection to him that I don’t have with many. This has changed my life. I miss you Terrence.

    5. I was Capoiera student and Terrence was always full of humor and a firm instructor. Our family will miss him. See you on the other side, brother.

      Love you man.

    6. Terrence and I were in all the same film classes together. At one point we started a screenwriting group but I was the only one who showed (And Terrence was my Vice President!) He always had so much going on and wanted to do so much more. With all he had already accomplished, he would have gone on to do some really great things. I miss you buddy.

    7. Terrence was my son’s best friend. They alway hung out together, Terrence, Drew and JS. My wife and I feel like we lost one of our own kids. Terrence, we will forever miss you, and you will be in our hearts till we get to see you again. I don’t have to say God bless you and keep you, because I know he has always blessed you and he will always keep you near him. Goodbye bud.

    8. I can’t believe such a vibrant life was cut so short. I will forever remeber Terrence as a man with a perpetual smile on his face. He was such an integral part of the warm, loving, and accepting atmosphere at Brazilian Capoeira. It can be intimidating when you are new to something like capoeira, but Terrence always made you feel comfortable and gave you confidence in your own abilities. His talent was a beautiful gift he shared with everyone, not something he selfishly showed off. The brief time that I knew this funny little Irish guy was not nearly enough. I barely knew him, but I will deeply miss him. AXE, Terrence!… the world is a little bit darker without you, but I’m sure Heaven’s now a lot brighter.

    9. Just dropping in to let you know you have an interesting site. I hope you’ll continue to work on it. Wishing you all the best.
